Sharing Your Child’s Photos Online Could Be Harmful

Sharing Your Child’s Photos Online Could Be Harmful – Parenting Tips

According to a new survey, two-thirds of all parents post photos of their kids online, and a whopping 92 percent of children now have some online presence before they’re even two years old. But while it’s normal to want to show off your kid’s accomplishments on social media?

Recent studies show some major risks associated with posting pictures and details about our kids online.
– You may be sharing your child’s location. Most cell phone cameras contain technology that automatically tags photos with information about where you took them. It’s known as geotagging. You may have heard of it unless you turn it off on your device’s settings. Anybody with access to your photos can figure out where your kids hang out, including their school, where they take karate, and even your home address. So all a predator has to do is; wait around until they see your kid, call their name, which they learn from your Facebook page, and say your mom told me to give you a ride home.

Thieves can also steal your child’s identity. How many parents of newborns post their child’s full name and birthday like a birth announcement on Facebook; too many to count. But that’s all the thief needs to build a credit profile, which means your child’s credit could be destroyed before they’re even out of diapers.

Be Careful!
